CIMS Incident Reporting in Victoria

Many of the service providers in Victoria will be moving to a new incident reporting system in January 2019.

This link takes you to the DHHS (Vcitorian Department of Health and Human Services) page with videos and other resources about CIMS. For NDIS providers, it is clear that until Victoria moves to the Naional Quality and Safeguards Framework and a National registration, screening and monitoring system, providers of NDIS services must use the CIMS for incident reporting.

The National Quality and Safeguards Framework does indicate that incidents will be managed using a cetnral system so it seems likely that once full transition to a National system has occured, a central incident reporting system, similar to CIMS will be implemented.

NDIS Service providers and Aged Care organisations should continue to have quality systems in place to effectively track and implement effective response to incidents and demonstrate continuous and sustained improvement.
